Who are the 24 elders round about god's throne?
In order to figure out who the 24 elders are we must go to where the 24 elders are mentioned in Revelation chapter 4 and 5.
2 and immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 4 and round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. rev. 4
Rev. 5:8-9 and when he had taken the book, the four beasts and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours. Which are the prayers of the saints 9 and they sung a new song, saying, thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.
These 24 elders also sing a song, thou art worthy to take the book and open the seals thereof. For thou was slain (talking about Jesus,) and hast redeemed us to god by thy blood.
So if they were redeemed by the blood of the lamb, they were washed by the blood of the lamb, meaning at one time they had sin, at one time, they were humans on earth
So in the first passage, the 24 elders are clothed in white raiment. Which reminds me of the 5th seal where the souls under the altar of god are given white robes representing resurrection. They are also given a crown of gold representing crown of life.
Another scripture in the book of Zechariah 3:1And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: [is] not this a brand plucked out of the fire?3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they [are] men wondered at: for, behold,
This passage doesn't tell when this took place but it does explain that Joshua was given a fair mitre, or crown, and his filthy (representing iniquity or sin) clothes were replaced by clean ones representing resurrection. In verse 8 the men wondered are the bible heroes of the Old Testament comprising the 24 elders.
In the book of Mathew 27:3 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
So these saints that were resurrected immediately after Jesus resurrection were the Old Testament saints. They couldn’t have been Jesus followers since they were still alive.
